Check whether my case fits

Is this your case?

  • Your current permit is a student stay and you want to move to residence and work as an employee.
  • You already have a signed employment contract.
  • Your studies or training are of a type that qualifies for this route: university degree, master's, higher vocational training (FP de Grado Superior), specialised health training, certificate of professional competence or professional aptitude course (CAP).

For these cases it is a different procedure

  • Your current permit already allows you to work: the right procedure is changing your work permit, not this one.
  • Your studies are intermediate vocational training (FP de Grado Medio) or a language course: this route is not available for that type of training.

If you are not sure, take the test and we'll tell you which one applies to you.

How it works

  1. We check your case

You answer the questionnaire on this page and, before charging you anything, we verify that your type of studies and the status of your TIE fit this route.

  2. We gather your documents and your employer's

You will see the exact list in the documents section of this page: identity, studies, criminal record, signed contract, and the solvency documents of whoever is hiring you.

  3. We file and follow your application

We file the application and keep you informed at every step until the decision.

Check whether your case fits

Before charging you anything. It is a few questions and we tell you whether we can handle it or whether it is better to review it in a consultation.

Enter the code we emailed you and go straight to your details, without answering anything.

Which documents you need

To process your change of status from student stay we need these documents:

  1. Complete copy of your valid passport or travel document or, where applicable, valid registration certificate (cédula de inscripción).
  2. Certificate proving that you have passed the studies or training undertaken.
  3. Certificate from the competent authority of your country of origin stating that you have not received a grant or subsidy from public or private bodies under development cooperation or humanitarian action programmes (or, if it cannot be obtained, a sworn statement).
  4. Copy of the documents proving your training and, where applicable, the professional qualification legally required to practise the profession (duly recognised where appropriate).
  5. Criminal record certificate issued by the authorities of the country or countries where you have lived during the five years before entering Spain.
  6. Signed employment contract.
  7. Documents identifying the company hiring you and its solvency:
    • If the employer is a sole trader:
      • copy of the DNI/NIE, or consent to check identity details through the Identity and Residence Data Verification System.
      • Copy of the income tax return (Form 100), or of the last two quarterly personal income tax returns (Form 130).
    • If the employer is a legal entity (S.A., S.L., cooperative, etc.):
      • Copy of the definitive tax ID (CIF) issued by the Tax Agency, or consent to check the identity details of the person signing the application through the Identity and Residence Data Verification System.
      • Corporate income tax return for the last financial year (Form 200) or the last two quarterly VAT returns (Form 303).

You don't need to have everything today: when you hire us we send you this list and review it with you.

Frequently asked questions
